R.E.M. Breaks Up

A skilled wise man just knows when it is the right time to leave a party according to R.E.M.’ lead singer Michael Stipe who announced that after 31 years together that himself along with guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Berry (Berry left in 97 due to health issues) have come to an agreement that they will split.
The rock band that was created in Athens, Georgia, back in the 1980′s has released over 15 albums during their three decades together but it now appears that it is time to say R.I.P to R.E.M.
On Wednesday fans woke up to find a lengthy message on the group’s official website explaining that the current members Mike, Michael, Bill, Bertis and Peter who are still good friends, have realized that it was time to end their musical careers in a very amicable way.
The gang went on to thank their fans and added:
“To our fans and friends: As REM, and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band…A wise man once said–’the skill in attending a party is knowing when it’s time to leave.’ We built something extraordinary together. We did this thing. And now we’re going to walk away from it…We have to thank all the people who helped us be R.E.M. for these 31 years; our deepest gratitude to those who allowed us to do this. It’s been amazing.”
The truth behind R.E.M.’s break up goes something like this.
While it was possible for them them to release classic chart topping hits like “Radio Free Europe.” in the 90′s and sell 4 millions units of a new CD, lately they have become irrelevant.
The group that was recently inducted to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been struggling to sell new materials and concert seats – which would explain why they have decided to go their separate ways and start new ventures.
